Marine Dredge Licence Applications
The National Laboratory Service have now been validated by the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) for a standard suite of physical and chemical determinands in marine sediment, that are required in support of marine dredging licence applications. A marine licence is required for many different types of activity that are within the inshore and offshore remit of the MMO. There are six categories of activities that may need a licence. These are:
- Construction, alteration or improvement
- Dredging
- Deposits
- Incineration of any substance or object
- Removal of any substance or object
- Scuttling of any vessel or floating container
The NLS are validated for the following tests:
- Particle Size Distribution
- Trace Heavy Metals
- Organotins
- Polychlorinated Biphenyls
- Total Organic Carbon
- Total Hydrocarbon Content
- Polyaromatic Hydrocarbons
